FLASHBACK: Billi-wha???

After being in the hospital for four days we were finally home and Little Jerome was due to have a check up the following day. Daddy Jerome was working so Uncle Louie was kind enough to escort us. The talk from the nurses were that he slept like a little man as Jerome preferred to sleep on his side vs. his back. Anyhoo, the appointment was going well except that his biliruben number was slightly elevated translation: he was jaundiced as you can see from Uncle Louie's picture.

So off we went to the lab where they proceeded to prick my baby's foot for a blood test to check the levels. None of us were pleased with this. The test confirmed that his numbers were indeed elevated so the Doctor prescribed a Bili-blanket or Bili-bed to bring them down. Apparently vitamin D from the sun also helps but of course it was overcast day after overcast day so luck of that. We were told the bili-blanket was best because we could still hold him, unfortunately they didn't have any in stock so we had to go with the bed. 


Daddy Jerome and I were concerned about this because 1. Little Jerome's preference of sleeping on his side and this bed was designed for babies to sleep in their backs. But our little man would not smarted and figured out a way of making it work.

 

 

And 2. we could only hold him to feed him but we made the most of that time as well

 

 

And when we couldn't hold him, Daddy Jerome was there to comfort him and let him know we were near.

So after the night was over, we returned to the Doctor and thankfully his number had gone down and the jaundice was slowly going away. There were a few more visits with a few more blood tests and I thought my husband was going to hurt somebody every time they pricked Little Jerome's foot but all's well that ends well.
